Ever had to use long expressions just to create simple measurements for plots and waveforms or use markers to measure amplitude, rise, and fall times? That too when these measurements might not even stay in place?
If yes, then read on to find out how you can simplify these tasks.
From IC6.1.8 ISR13 and ICADVM18.1 ISR13 releases, we have introduced the new Direct Measurements assistant in Virtuoso Visualization and Analysis XL. The focus of the Direct Measurements assistant is to make the most commonly used measurements such as rise time, fall time, or delay between two transient signals available at a click of a button. The markers and labels are annotated automatically on the selected plots. This simplifies the process of creating, annotating, and updating measurements without the need to write lengthy expressions that were traditionally created through the Calculator tool in Virtuoso Visualization and Analysis XL.
Direct Measurements assistant can be invoked from Virtuoso Visualization and Analysis XL, Window > Assistants > Direct Measurements menu.
Direct Measurements assistant has three tabs Amplitude, Time, and Frequency.
Amplitude and Time Measurements
When running transient simulations, we usually want to look at the rise/fall times or duty cycle of the outputs. Let's look at a short video to see how the Direct Measurements assistant can be used to create annotations for these measurements,

Similarly, on the Freq tab, you can perform Frequency(ac) Measurements for stability – Gain margin, Phase margin, and Bandwidth can be annotated from the Freq tab.
